5-Day Plains Game Starter

The ideal introduction to South African plains game hunting. Five full hunting days on our Limpopo concession, guided by a licensed Professional Hunter with an experienced tracker. Recommended species for this package: impala, warthog, blesbok, and springbok — four achievable, affordable trophies that give first-time safari hunters an outstanding introduction to African game.

7-Day Classic Plains Game Safari

Our most popular package. Seven days gives you enough time to hunt multiple species at a relaxed pace, zero in at the range on arrival, and experience the full rhythm of a Limpopo safari — morning stalks, blind hunting, afternoon drives, and evenings around the fire. Recommended species: kudu, gemsbok, impala, warthog, and zebra.

Ten days allows you to target multiple record-book candidates, include a challenging species like sable, nyala, or eland, and hunt at a pace that prioritises quality over quantity. This package is also suited to hunters combining plains game with a dangerous game addition.

Bow Hunting Package
From $2,260 / €1,750 / 13.000 DKK (daily rates, 7 days, 2×1) + trophy fees
South Africa is one of the world’s premier bow hunting destinations. Our Limpopo concession has purpose-built waterholes with elevated blinds positioned for close-range shots — 15 to 35 metres — on impala, warthog, kudu, and gemsbok. Dangerous Game Safari — Cape Buffalo
Daily rates on request (1×1, 10 days minimum) + trophy fees
Cape buffalo hunting requires a minimum caliber of .375 H&H under South African law, a experienced PH at your side for every shot, and the mindset to follow up a wounded animal in thick bush. This is the pinnacle of African plains hunting. Our Professional Hunter has extensive Cape buffalo experience and will ensure the hunt is conducted safely and ethically.
- 10-day minimum recommended (buffalo hunting is not a quick hunt)
- 1×1 configuration — your PH is dedicated to you for the entire hunt
- Cape buffalo trophy fee: $13,500 / €9,120 / 68.000 DKK (see trophy price list)
- Additional plains game species can be added to the buffalo hunt
- Dangerous game insurance strongly recommended

What Is Included in Every Package
- Licensed Professional Hunter — assigned to your party for the full hunt duration, legally required under South African law
- Lodge accommodation — private rooms with en-suite bathroom, hot water, electricity
- All meals and drinks — breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, soft drinks, water, beer, and house wine
- 4×4 hunting vehicle with experienced tracker and skinner
- Field preparation of trophies — skinning, caping, salting, and delivery to taxidermist
- Airport transfers — from O.R. Tambo International (Johannesburg) or Polokwane Airport
- Hunting licenses and permits — all in-field South African documentation
- Zero range session on arrival day to confirm your rifle is shooting accurately after travel

- International and domestic flights
- Trophy fees (paid at end of hunt based on animals taken)
- Taxidermy, dipping and packing, and international freight
- VAT (15%) — applicable to non-South African residents on daily rates
- Personal travel and medical insurance
- Firearms temporary import permit (SAPS 520 — handled on arrival, no cost)
- Gratuities for PH, tracker, skinner, and lodge staff (customary — typically $50–$100 per day total)
Non-Hunting Companions
Partners, family members, and friends who do not hunt are welcome at the lodge. Non-hunting observers join the safari experience — game drives, photography, bird watching, and relaxation at the lodge — at a reduced daily rate.
- Observer — own room: $170 / €175 / 1.300 DKK per day
- Observer — sharing with hunter: $116 / €120 / 890 DKK per day
Observers can accompany the hunting vehicle in the field at the Professional Hunter’s discretion. Many non-hunters find the African bush experience — the tracking, the stalking, the landscape — as compelling as the hunt itself.
How to Book
All bookings begin with a conversation. If you are travelling from the UK, see our UK hunter’s travel guide for flights, firearms, and trophy import information. Contact us with your preferred dates, target species, and party size. We will send a personalised proposal within 48 hours with daily rates, a recommended species list, example trophy fee totals, and a draft itinerary.
- Deposit: 50% of daily rates to confirm your booking and lock in your dates
- Balance: due 60 days before arrival
- Trophy fees: settled at the end of the hunt, on departure day
- Payment: bank transfer (USD) or credit card

Frequently Asked Questions About Hunting Packages
Are trophy fees included in the package price?
No. Trophy fees are separate and are paid at the end of the hunt based on animals actually taken. This is the standard structure across all reputable South African outfitters — you only pay for what you shoot. Package prices listed above are daily rate costs only. What is the difference between 1×1 and 2×1 hunting?
1×1 means one hunter with one dedicated Professional Hunter — the most intensive and personalised hunting experience. 2×1 means two hunters share one Professional Hunter. Both formats are guided hunts with full daily rate inclusions. 1×1 is recommended for hunters targeting difficult species, dangerous game, or those who prefer undivided attention. Daily rates for 1×1 are higher — contact us for current pricing.
Can I customise the package to target specific species?
Yes. Every hunt is tailored to your wish list. Tell us the species you want to target and we will recommend the appropriate number of hunting days, the best season to visit, and which areas of the concession to focus on. There are no fixed species lists — you choose what to hunt.
How many animals can I expect to take in 7 days?
Most 7-day hunters take between 3 and 6 animals depending on species pursued, hunting style, and how selective they choose to be on trophy quality. A hunter pursuing quality over quantity might focus on a single record-book kudu bull and add opportunistic plains game. A hunter wanting variety might take 5–6 common species. Your PH will advise on realistic expectations for your specific goals.
What is the minimum age to hunt at Gaspare Spanio Safaris?
Minimum hunting age is 16 years with parental or guardian consent and accompanying adult. Junior hunters are welcome — hunting safaris are an outstanding introduction to ethical wildlife management and the African bush. Contact us to discuss junior-specific package options.
Do you offer repeat hunter discounts?
Yes. Hunters who have previously hunted with us receive preferential rates on daily fees and priority on species availability.
