When you book a hunting safari with Gaspare Spanio Safaris, your daily rate covers everything you need for a complete, worry-free experience in the African bush. Here is exactly what is included.

Professional Hunter (PH)

Every safari is guided by an experienced, licensed Professional Hunter. At Gaspare Spanio Safaris, Gaspare himself leads every hunt — with over 30 years of experience in the Limpopo bushveld. Your PH handles all field decisions, tracks game, advises on shot placement, and ensures your safety throughout the hunt. Whether you are a first-time hunter or a seasoned veteran, your PH adapts to your experience level and goals.

Lodge Accommodation

You will stay at our private safari lodge, located on the hunting concession itself — no long drives to and from the field. Each room features a private bathroom, comfortable beds, and all the amenities you need to rest and recharge after a day in the bush. The lodge is exclusively for our guests, so you will never share the property with strangers.

Meals and Drinks

All meals are included — full breakfast, packed or lodge lunch, and a traditional South African dinner each evening. Expect hearty bush cuisine including braai (South African barbecue), game meat dishes, and fresh local produce. Soft drinks, water, beer, and house wine are included throughout your stay. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.

Hunting Vehicle and Field Support

A fully equipped 4×4 hunting vehicle is provided for all field activities, driven by your PH and assisted by an experienced tracker. The skinning and caping team handles all field preparation of your trophies, including salting and delivery to a local taxidermist. All hunting licenses and permits are arranged and included in your daily rate.

Airport Transfers

Complimentary pick-up and drop-off at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg is included. The drive to our concession in Limpopo takes approximately 3.5 hours — your safari begins the moment you land.

How to Book Your Hunting Safari

1. Get in Touch

Contact Gaspare by email or through our website. Let us know your preferred dates, how many hunters are in your group, which species you are interested in, and how many hunting days you would like. The more detail you give us, the more accurate your quote will be.

2. Receive Your Custom Quote

We will put together a personalised safari proposal with daily rates, recommended species, and a suggested itinerary. Everything can be adjusted — whether you want to add bow hunting days, include a non-hunting companion, or extend your stay for a photo safari.

3. Confirm with Deposit

A 50% deposit confirms your booking and locks in your dates. We accept bank transfer (USD) and credit card. The remaining balance is due 60 days before your arrival. Trophy fees are settled at the end of the hunt.

4. Travel and Hunt

We will collect you at O.R. Tambo International Airport and drive you to the lodge. After settling in and zeroing your rifle, you will meet the team, discuss the hunt plan, and be ready for the bush the next morning. From that point on, every detail is taken care of.

Best Time to Hunt in South Africa

The South African hunting season runs from approximately April to October, coinciding with the dry winter months. This is the best time to hunt for several reasons: vegetation is thinner, making it easier to spot and stalk game; animals congregate around remaining water sources; and the cooler temperatures make long days in the field more comfortable.

For plains game hunting, May through September is ideal. The bush is at its driest, visibility is excellent, and most species are active throughout the day. For big game such as Cape Buffalo, the winter months of June to August offer the best conditions — buffalo herds are concentrated near water and the cooler weather allows for extended tracking.

Daytime temperatures during hunting season typically range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), with cold mornings that can drop below 5°C (41°F). Rain is rare during the dry season, so you can expect clear skies and excellent hunting conditions on most days. Early booking is recommended for peak season (June–August).

Absolutely. Non-hunting observers are welcome at a daily rate of $170 / €175 / 1.300 DKK (own room) or $116 / €120 / 890 DKK (sharing room with the hunter). Companions enjoy the full lodge experience, game drives, photography opportunities, bird watching, swimming, and relaxation while you are in the field.

How do I book a hunting safari with Gaspare Spanio Safaris?

Contact us with your preferred dates, number of hunters, and species wish list. We will send you a personalised quote within 48 hours. A 50% deposit confirms your booking. The balance is due 60 days before arrival, and trophy fees are settled at the end of the hunt.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future date, subject to availability. Cancellations within 60 days of arrival forfeit the full safari cost. We strongly recommend travel and cancellation insurance. Full terms are listed in our Terms and Conditions section above.

When is the best time to hunt in South Africa?
